In another ‘fresh’ development and no pun intended, the club takes great pleasure in welcoming Oporto NZ on-board in sponsoring our club for the next two years.
The Australian “fresh-not-frozen, grilled-not-fried” chicken fast-food operator is widely known for its signature dish the ‘Bondi Burger’ and no one is more excited about this partnership than our Senior Club President Swee Han Lim for obvious reasons.
The ground work was accomplished already through their great appreciation for the ProShop team in normal dealings with Tony and Maggie with the relationship prospering late last year when Oporto expressed interest in being a long term club partner fostering young badminton talent in the region. It was only appropriate with Oporto’s NZ head office located just around the corner from the club and with four stores within a peripheral radium of 5 kms from LEPBC.
The success story that is Oporto, has come a long way in the last 12 years with 11 stores operational in NewZealand now and plans to double that number in the next 12 months.
The alliance gathers great impetus from the fact that Oporto’s senior management has got keen active interest in badminton personally being LEPBC regulars playing casually at the club badminton hall along with their kids being on the Junior Club roster. Initiatives like this are the need of the hour to help badminton prosper further in the community and shows Oporto’s resolve to become active part of sport, health and community development.
As Jasmine Arolkar, Director & Marketing Manager of Oporto NewZealand described it, “We are into it for the longer run. Oporto is very committed to become part of East Auckland’s sports community and in fostering sports development’.
Oporto’s brand would become part of LEPBC club shirts from this year and will be represented at the Auckland Badminton Association’s annual Interclub competition and club events.
So keep an eye out for some irresistible, mouth watering deals around the club as the final contract is getting penned down in the next few days.
